　　2024年第17期《求是》杂志发表了习近平总书记关于培养社会主义建设者和接班人的重要文章。

　　An article by General Secretary Xi Jinping on nurturing a new generation of capable young people who will fully develop socialism and carry forward the socialist cause was published in this year’s 17th issue of Qiushi Journal.

　　文章强调，培养什么人，是教育的首要问题。我国是中国共产党领导的社会主义国家，这就决定了我们的教育必须把培养社会主义建设者和接班人作为根本任务，培养一代又一代拥护中国共产党领导和我国社会主义制度、立志为中国特色社会主义奋斗终身的有用人才。要健全全员育人、全过程育人、全方位育人的体制机制，不断培养一代又一代社会主义建设者和接班人。这是教育工作的根本任务，也是教育现代化的方向目标。

　　The article points out that “what kind of people we should cultivate” is one of the most fundamental issues that education must address. Noting that China is a socialist country under the leadership of the CPC, the article says that this mandates a fundamental task for education: to prepare youth for joining and advancing the socialist cause, i.e., to nurture generations of capable people who uphold the Party’s leadership and our socialist system, and are dedicated to the socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is also the goal of education modernization.

　　To this end, sound institutional mechanisms should be established to engage all educators in providing holistic education throughout the entire educational process and in every aspect.

　　文章指出，我们要培养的社会主义建设者和接班人应该具备什么样的基本素质和精神状态，应该如何培养，关键是要做好以下几方面工作。一是要在坚定理想信念上下功夫。二是要在厚植爱国主义情怀上下功夫。三是要在加强品德修养上下功夫。四是要在增长知识见识上下功夫。五是要在培养奋斗精神上下功夫。六是要在增强综合素质上下功夫。

　　In order to cultivate qualified younger generations, the key, according to the article, lies in firming up ideals and convictions, strengthening patriotism and moral character, increasing knowledge, and cultivating work ethics and overall competence.

　　An article by the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress highlights the importance of full implementation of the Constitution and the efforts to uphold, improve, and implement the system of people’s congresses to good effect.

　　交通运输部党组书记、部长李小鹏的文章，对持续发力推动“四好农村路”高质量发展作出阐释。

　　Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport and Secretary of the Ministry’s CPC Leadership Group, introduces China’s sustained efforts to promote high-quality development of rural roads that are well built, managed, maintained and operated.
